Welcome to Göteborg Fly-in!

Göteborg, or Gothenburg as it is known in English, is situated almost equidistant between the three Scandinavian capitals. This makes it an ideal venue for a meeting of the General Aviation community in Scandinavia and beyond and the general public. Add a waived landing fee and the chance to visit Aeroseum – a major aviation museum in the middle of the Fly-in area – into the mix and you hardly need any more reason to visit us during the last weekend of May 2011.

The first fly-in to be hosted in Göteborg for a good many years took place in 2008 to commemorate the 90th anniversary (yes: 90th!) of the flying club Aeroklubben i Göteborg. Since 2009, the event is co-hosted by Aeroklubben, the flying club Chalmers Flygklubb and Aeroseum. We are also co-operating with Göteborg City Airport (ESGP) that offers free landing and parking for airborne visitors to Göteborg Fly-in.

The main attraction, apart from the chance to meet flying buffs with or without flying license, is a visit to the underground hangars that have been converted to a museum. Read more on Aeroseum´s web site . Aeroseum and the flying clubs want to encourage interest in aviation by declaring the whole weekend "Aviation for Kids". Pilots and staff answer questions like "Why do aircrafts fly" and there will also be mini-events aimed specifically at children.

While visiting Göteborg, why not see the town itself? The city centre is less than 15 kilometers away and easily accessible with public transport. For tourist information, including accommodation, visit www.goteborg.com.

Flying VFR in Sweden is easy and the air traffic control is welcoming. Controlled air space is in class C, and outside CTRs and TMAs you will find class G airspace. The Integrated AIP is found on the web, without registration. In the IAIP, Göteborg City Airport is known as “Göteborg/Säve”. Note that for the fly-in, parking will be east of the runway rather than on the west side normally used for GA and commercial airlines alike.

Need any help or further details on the event? Don't hesitate to contact us.
Please fill out the prior notice form to avoid the airport landing fee.
